Hearing to be held Tuesday on new Flatiron school

A hearing will be held Tuesday on building a 560-student public
elementary school in part of the space currently occupied by the
headquarters of New York Foundling, a non-profit social services
agency, at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 17th Street. The School
Construction Authority would convert the building’s cellar and first
six floors into the school. The hospital, which plans to build a new
pediatric center in Yonkers, would retain the remaining floors for its
administrative headquarters.
