Steven Kamali expands hospitality business with the Chef Agency

Hospitality and nightlife guru Steven Kamali will expand Steven Kamali Hospitality with a new branch called the Chef Agency, the New York Observer reported in a profile of the broker. The agency will help an international array of hotels and restaurants find the right staffs for their kitchens, including chefs and general managers.

The branch is still in its incipient phases, the Observer said, and there’s no official launch date. The website exists now in beta form and its database of 2,500 international chefs is still in the works.

“Part of this is we’re connecting dots,” Kamali said. “We would like to be the first call when the Four Seasons in Asia needs a new chef du cuisine.”

Kamali also told the Observer that he is involved in consultations with the Gagosian Gallery to help curate a restaurant at 980 Madison Avenue.

He also recently sold the Surf Lodge in Montauk for an undisclosed amount, as The Real Deal previously reported. [NYO]
