Rep. Mica denies delaying GSA’s lease at 1 WTC

Rep. John Mica has denied stalling the General Services Administration’s 270,000-square-foot lease deal at 1 World Trade Center, the New York Post reported. The congressman has blamed the GSA for waiting too long to tell his committee, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, of the details.

“Chairman Mica and the committee have not held up this GSA lease and Sen. Schumer is aware of that,” said Mica, through a spokesperson.

As previously reported, Sen. Chuck Schumer has been instrumental in pushing the lease through.

Mica’s spokesperson said he didn’t receive the lease prospectus until “just hours” before the committee last met and that the GSA held out “until the last moment to provide” information, and then providing “insufficient supporting [data].”

The GSA lease would make 1 WTC reach just over 50 percent occupancy. [Post]
