Bloomingdale’s is expanding its office presence at SL Green Realty’s 919 Third Avenue with a new 47,000-square-foot-plus lease for the entire sixth floor. The deal will bring the department store giant’s total space at the building to 204,442 square feet.

The asking rent was $65 per square foot, according to SL Green’s director of leasing Steven Durels, who represented the landlord. CBRE Group’s Scott Gottlieb and Michael Laginestra represented Bloomingdale’s.

Bloomingdale’s expansion at the building was driven “by the growth of their online business,” Durels told the New York Post. The department store is also looking to expand its retail presence in South Florida and is in talks to take space at the Miami Worldcenter’s Downtown mall. [NYP, 2nd item]  – Hiten Samtani
