Social media behemoth Twitter, fresh off a successful stock offering, is eyeing a move to Edward Minskoff’s 51 Astor Place.

The micro-blogging firm could sign for a whopping 100,000 square feet in the once-troubled development, which pinned hopes on leasing to a burgeoning tech sector when construction began in 2011. The long-term commitment would reportedly be in the $90s per square foot, sources familiar with the deal told Crain’s.

Though an agreement seems to be within reach, sources told Crain’s it could still come apart should negotiations hit a snag.

Minskoff, who landed the building’s first tenant in early October, previously courted tech titans Facebook and Microsoft, with the former ultimately opting for a space a block west at 770 Broadway. [Crain’s]Julie Strickland
