Eliot Spitzer’s Spitzer Engineering is bringing two 18 and 22-story towers to a waterfront parcel in Williamsburg, according to building permits the firm filed with the city today.

The pair of buildings at 420 Kent Avenue would together house 270 apartments for a total of 311,224 square feet of residential space. The permits also call for 2,000 square feet of retail space, according to New York YIMBY.

The site is located two blocks south of the Williamsburg Bridge and used to be home to Kedem Winery. Spitzer purchased the 2.8 acre property in August for $165 million, as The Real Deal first reported, taking the reins from developer Rector Hylan Corp., which had been trying unsuccessfully to construct a mixed-use property on the site for several years.

The new configuration appears to signal a downsizing from the originally planned development, which called for an 18-story and a 24-story tower, with 600,000 square feet total and 413 residential units.
