Illinois’ real estate licensing system is going all digital.
Beginning Monday, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation will no longer accept paper applications for a number of professional licenses and certifications, including ones that regulate real estate professionals.
Instead, real estate professionals will apply for or renew their licenses on the department’s online portal, the department said. Professionals can use the portal or paper applications for the time being, but will only be able to use the digital application come Monday.
The change will affect more than 73,000 real estate professionals in the state, according to the department. Professionals impacted by the change include brokers, managing brokers, leasing agents, brokerage branch offices, continuing education instructors, brokerage corporations and other industry workers.
Switching to online applications will make the licensing process faster for applicants, the department said.
