Former Gov. Thompson relists Gold Coast condo
The retired lawyer and his wife put up their 34th-floor unit in the Bristol
Former Illinois Gov. James Thompson and his wife, Jayne, are relisting their Gold Coast condo at a slight markdown.
The Thompsons are asking $1.85 million for the 34th-floor unit in the Bristol, 57 East Delaware Place, according to the Chicago Tribune. Two years ago, they first put it on the market for two months, at $1.995 million before pulling it.
The couple paid $1.895 million for the three-bedroom unit in 2008.
The couple in 2016 moved a few blocks south after buying a 41st-floor condo at 55 East Erie Street for $2.25 million, according to the Tribune.
Thompson, who was governor from 1977 to 1991, is a former U.S. attorney who joined the law firm of Winston & Strawn after leaving the governor’s office. He retired in 2015.
The condo he’s selling features 3-1/2 baths, floor-to-ceiling windows, a large living room, a formal dining room with custom built-ins and a library with built-in mahogany bookshelves and cabinets.
Marlene St. George of Baird & Warner is the listing agent.
