RJW Transport signed a 417,000 square foot industrial lease in suburban Romeoville, the largest new lease in the Interstate 55 corridor this year.

The Woodridge-based logistics and warehouse company’s deal in the Pinnacle Business Center, 50 Southcreek Parkway, increased the amount of new space the company leased this year in the I-55 corridor to 1.2 million square feet, according to JLL, whose Dominic Carbonari represented RJW in the lease.

RJW in January signed a lease for 357,000 square feet at 2601 International Parkway in Woodridge, and in April signed a lease 406,000 square feet at 1000 Veterans Parkway in Bolingbrook. The Romeoville lease gives RJW three of the 10 leases of 100,000 square feet or more that have been signed this year in the I-55 corridor, JLL said.

The Romeoville property is owned by the Florida State Board of Administration and is managed by the Pizzuti Companies, online records show.

The Chicago area is among the go-to places for industrial and logistics lease signings in the United States, with 6.8 million square feet in deals inked in the first half of 2018.

Industrial activity has been especially frenetic in the south and southwest suburbs: Close to 50 million square feet of industrial space is under construction or has been completed in the Interstate 55 and I-80 corridors in the past five years.
