Hospitality 3 is building a hotel on the University of Chicago campus in Woodlawn.

The New York-based developer is constructing a 12-story hotel on a vacant lot at 1225 East 60th Street. It is being built next to the under-construction Rubenstein Forum, a conference center.

Plans call for 167 guest rooms, a fitness center, events space and a 100-seat restaurant and bar, said Heidi Sperry, coordinator of special projects for the city. The hotel plan was discussed at a recent city Plan Commission meeting.

The development is under construction and is scheduled to be completed in June, Sperry said.

University of Chicago has been working to build up the south end of its campus.

Aside from the hotel and the conference center, the school is also building a four-story, 1,300-bed residential complex on campus, which will be delivered in 2020.

The school also recently opened up a 53,000-square-foot business school on the site of a former prison in Hong Kong.
