Residents at two of the most distinctive pieces of Chicago’s skyline are being told to tone down their holiday light displays.
Management at the Bertrand-Goldberg designed Marina City towers sent a memo to residents recently telling them to limit light displays on their balconies to “clear white single strand lights,” according to Curbed.
The regulations prohibit colored and blinking bulbs, neon, strobes, fiber optic lights and lasers.
In the years after the two corncob buildings along the Chicago River were finished in the 1960s, the building actually issued residents all-white lights to use on balcony displays, according to Loop North News.
