A Chicago architect is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend in their South Side apartment.

Devon Charlton, who worked for Studio ARQ, was ordered held without bail in Thursday’s strangulation death of his girlfriend, Ninaa Edwards, 23. Her body was found in their apartment in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Charlton, 26, worked for the South Loop-based firm and was a member of the American Institute of Architects Chicago’s Young Architects Forum, his lawyer said.
