WeWork is set to open its 12th location in Chicago, and the new addition will push the firm past 1 million square feet of space Downtown.

The co-working giant signed a lease for three of the top floors in the building that White Oak Realty Partners and CA Office built on spec at 625 West Adams Street, according to Crain’s.

WeWork has grown dramatically in Chicago since it first entered the market in 2015. After announcing two new locations in April totaling more than 190,000 square feet, the firm was poised to occupy 930,000 square feet and become one of the biggest office tenants in the city.

The new location at 625 West Adams will cement that position at the top of the Downtown office landscape. And that’s without counting space at 2 North LaSalle Street where WeWork has secured a building permit to renovate three floors but has not officially confirmed the new location yet.

Chicago’s co-working market has tripled in the last four years, and the amount of co-working space is projected to grow by more than a third by the end of 2020, according to Newmark Knight Frank research cited in Crain’s.
