Chicago’s priciest rental comes with a $45K monthly price tag — and some ridiculous amenities

The rental broker said Onni Group expects to rent the penthouse at Old Town Park to “a CEO or professional athlete”

The new most expensive apartment in Chicago will set you back $45,000 a month — but you’ll get a whole lot more than four walls and a roof over your head.

The penthouse in Onni Group’s Old Town Park tower at 1140 North Wells Street will be available for move-in on July 1, and rental broker Emily Santos of @properties told Crain’s the target market for the palatial spread is “a CEO or professional athlete.”

The 4,200-square-foot apartment is on the top two floors of the 32-story building, which is the first of three Vancouver-based Onni has planned for the site of the former Atrium Village apartments.

It features four bedrooms, an interior elevator, sweeping views and 3,500 square feet of outdoor space that includes a 32nd-floor terrace with a private stainless steel pool and hot tub, an outdoor shower and grilling area to go with more terrace space off the 31st floor. It comes fully furnished.

The other 404 units in the building have much more manageable rents in the $2,000 to $4,000 range, Crain’s reported.

The next highest rent in Chicago, according to Crain’s, is $37,500 for a four-bedroom at the Waldorf-Astoria on Walton Street.
