A mansion in Lincoln Park sold for $11.9 million, setting the record for Chicago’s most expensive home sale since August 2018. It’s also the highest price paid for a single residential property in the city in 2020, Crain’s reported.

The asking price for the 12,000-square-foot, six-bedroom mansion on a double-lot at 1917 Howe Street was $14.5 million. It was built by BGD&C, a luxury home builder known for other mansions in the neighborhood, but the property was not publicly listed.

The sellers were William and Sandra Sterling, and the buyer has not yet been identified in public records, according to the publication. William Sterling is the managing partner of Sandia Point, a quantitative research and trading firm with offices in Chicago and New York.

Both the seller and buyer’s agents declined to comment on the transaction.

The $11.9 million sale price is Chicago’s highest since August 2018 when a buyer paid the same amount for a mansion on Burling Street, also in Lincoln Park. [Crain’s] — Akiko Matsuda
