This dataset analyzes the primary residences of homeowners in the towns of East Hampton, Southampton, and Riverhead on Long Island.
To find this data, The Real Deal surveyed tax assessor records for residential homes in these towns. Data was filtered to exclude properties owned by LLCs. A comparison was then made between the property address and the owner's mailing address, including city, state, and country.
TRD’s analysis showed that the majority of Hamptons homeowners split their time between New York City and the Hamptons. Of that group, 88 percent live in Manhattan, and Manhattanites make up 26 percent of Hamptons owners overall.
