Los Angeles Rams charge to CLU’s Thousand Oaks campus for training

Rams Training at California Lutheran University

The Rams will be training at California Lutheran University’s Thousand Oaks campus, the football team announced Wednesday.

They will use the facility for two to five years, depending on when their permanent training base is completed at the Inglewood Stadium project.

At the northwest corner of the CLU campus, the Rams will build two practice fields, temporary modular buildings and a paved parking lot to accommodate 130 athletes, coaches, trainers and staff.

City officials have already approved parts of the construction plan, and the Rams agreed to turn over the facility to the university for its own athletic departments after their tenure.

The announcement comes as rumors suggest the team is also in the talks of finalizing its headquarters office space in Agoura Hills, just east of Thousand Oaks. Overall, the Rams’ return to their hometown could bring up to $400 million to L.A.’s residential real estate market, according to Partners Trust head of sports division Lee Mintz.

CLU has a long history of partnership with sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and the U.S. Olympic men’s water polo team. During the Rams’ residence at the institution, CLU students will have opportunities to intern with the team. [L.A. Business Journal]Cathaleen Chen
