Updated, 11:30 a.m., Aug. 5: When it comes to ritzy homes, it seems that Beverly Hills will always take the cake. In July, four of the five priciest single-family sales were for properties in the exclusive 90210 zipcode.

Homes in Beverly Hills sold for up to five times the median Los Angeles home value of $572,400, according to a June Zillow report. Read on for a closer look at just what makes them so special.

616 North Beverly Drive

As part of a joint, $30 million deal, real estate investor Ben Nehmadi ponied up $21 million for the 20,000-square-foot main estate of the late novelist Jackie Collins plus an extra $9 million to buy the 5,200-square-foot house next door, where Al Pacino has lived for about a decade. The “Godfather” and “Godfather II” actor will reportedly stay put for now. Brett Lawyer and Susan Smith of Hilton & Hyland were the listing agents in the transaction. Richard Maslan of Hilton & Hyland represented Nehmadi. Collins had the primary residence custom built in the early 1990s. It has eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, and a whole lot of entertainment space, including a 100-foot gallery, 12-seat screening room and a courtyard with a pool and spa designed to emulate David Hockney’s iconic 1963 painting, “A Bigger Splash.”

1012 North Hillcrest Road

Coming in at just a sliver below $25 million, L.A.’s biggest single-family sale of July was in — yup, you guessed it — Beverly Hills. The three-quarter-acre property formerly housed the home of actor Morey Amsterdam of “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” but that property was later replaced by a contemporary structure. With floor-to-ceiling windows and a floating walkway, the six-bedroom property features an outdoor living room, an infinity pool, a screening room, a lucite wine cellar, a full catering kitchen, a large motor court and six bathrooms. The house was built by L.A. residential developer DIJ Group and completed this year. Drew Fenton of Hilton & Hyland and Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage listed the property. Mills represented the buyer.

Undisclosed address in Beverly Crest

Music mogul and former “X-Factor” judge L.A. Reid recently acquired a Beverly Crest pad for just under $18 million, the L.A. Times reported. The new home, completed in 2015, has seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and four fireplaces. Spanning 11,200 square feet, it also features an office, a gym, a 300-bottle wine cellar and a theater with its own wet bar. Outside, there’s an infinity pool with a baja deck. Two glass staircases and an elevator connect the home’s three floors. Aaron Kirman of John Aaroe Group and Drew Fenton of Hilton & Hyland were the listing agents. Hilton & Hyland’s Jesse Lally represented the buyer.

1240 Benedict Canyon Drive

Designed by architect Elmer Grey, this English-style estate sold for $14.7 million in an off-market deal. Named after the mining engineer Harvey Mudd, the compound has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a conservatory, a library and a sunroom. In addition to Mudd, the property was once home to oil magnate Harry Rothschild and Oscar-winning actor Martin Landau. Sotheby’s Victoria Risko and Hilton & Hyland’s Stephen Resnick and Jonathan Nash represented the seller in the transaction.

24200 Hidden Ridge Road

For $14.6 million, the buyer of this 15,000-square-foot cul-de-sac mansion got a brand new “smart home.” Located in the Kardashian-filled Hidden Hills neighborhood, the residence has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. It features a chef’s kitchen, great room, refrigerated wine cellar, butler’s pantry, home theater, lounge with wet bar and other rooms for entertainment. Its “smart” features include an iPad controller for lights, music, temperature and pool, as well as Nest thermostats, touchpad security, a commercial elevator and tankless water heaters. The listing agent was Marc Shevin of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and the buyer was represented by Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland, according to Redfin.
