Harridge Development plans 3.3-acre mixed-use complex in the Valley

Harridge Development Group may be spending the big bucks on lobbying, but that hasn’t stopped the firm from pursuing new projects.

The West Los Angeles developer has filed plans for two mixed-use buildings that contain 79 apartment units and ground-floor commercial space, as well as 61 small lot homes, on five parcels in Northridge.

The 3.3-acre site bound by Canby Avenue, Chase Street and Reseda Boulevard housed a long-time Cadillac dealership before Harridge acquired it for $5.7 million in 2015. At the time of the sale, it had three tenants, including the Picture Car Warehouse at 8400 Reseda Boulevard.

Construction will be preceded by the demolition of the car resale center, commercial building and auto body shop currently occupying the site, according to the project’s mitigated negative declaration.

The two buildings in Harridge’s redevelopment plans would have four stories and a combined 10,300 square feet of ground floor commercial space. The small lot homes would have three levels each and feature a two-car garage.

About 20 miles south, the developer is adapting Koreatown’s Wilshire Galleria into a mixed-use complex with 545 apartment complex and space for stores, restaurants and a hotel.

Meanwhile, Harridge is also responsible for the much-stalled Famous Crossroads of the World redevelopment in Hollywood. In the first three months of 2016, the firm spent $220,660 in lobbying for the massive project, which calls for eight buildings.
