New year, new talent. JLL has nabbed mergers and acquisition veteran Jeff Hawkins, freshly poached from CEL Capital Advisors, where he served as managing director. At JLL, Hawkins will resume that role for the firm’s Capital Markets platform.

Working under Kevin Stahl, Hawkins will focus on joint ventures and recapitalizations, among other types of structured transactions. He will work within Jones Lang LaSalle Securities but will remain based in Los Angeles, according to a release from JLL.

Partners Trust, wasting no time, has poached not one, not two, but four brokers from Investment Real Estate Associates: Morgan McMullin, Zachary Krasman, Seth Bernstein and Shaya Braverman. The four recruits will join the primarily residential firm’s growing commercial team in its Beverly Hills Office.

McMullin was a vice president at IREA, where he specialized in the sale and acquisition of commercial properties, Partners Trust announced. Its current commercial team is led by Dario Svidler, Lee Mintz, Tim Byrne, and Daniel Sanchez.

On the residential side, real estate startup Compass hired former actress Dana Sparks from Exclusive Listing. Sparks began her realty career in 2008, at one point working for Keller Williams, according to her LinkedIn account.
