Vermont Triangle poised for revamp with new planters

The long-awaited redesign of the Vermont Triangle in Los Feliz has been finalized after months of public outreach.

The park — once a street median which attracted homeless encampments — will have large planters installed with a walkway, at an estimated cost of $100,000, according to Council member David Ryu’s spokesperson Estevan Montemayor. The East Hollywood Business Improvement District (EHBID) also agreed to the plans.

“The planters would physically restrict pedestrian traffic and narrow the area where people set up tents,” Montemayor told the Los Feliz Ledger. The proposal would also make it easier for the Los Angeles Police Department to ask those who’ve pitched tents to leave.

“We do have some longer-term plans that we’re mulling around with,”said EHBID Treasurer Jeff Zarrinnam, who worked with the Los Feliz Homeless Coalition and the Los Feliz Improvement Association on the proposal. “This is something that can be done right now.”
