Japanese developer Mitsui Fudosan is planning another big Downtown Los Angeles project: a 40-story, 409-unit tower in the Financial District.

The development at 754 South Hope Street, across from the DTLA Whole Foods, calls for more than 7,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, Urbanize first reported, as well as a six-level parking garage.

The site is occupied by an existing parking structure.

Just two blocks East, Mitsui is already planning a 42-story, 430-unit resi tower on the corner of 8th and Figueroa Streets. Its first step into DTLA was its acquisition of what became the 52-story Figueroa at Wilshire tower, formerly known as Sanwa Bank Plaza, which was developed by Hines and sold in 1999.
