What you need to know about Exposition Park’s 2028 Olympics upgrade

After nearly a quarter century, it’s time to go back to the drawing board.

Exposition Park officials announced Friday that the park’s master plan will be revisited as it gears for the opening of the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the Banc of California soccer stadium and the 2028 Olympics, Curbed reported.

The new plan will enhance the park’s transportation and accessibility across its 160 acres – conveniently located near the Metro’s Expo Line. The update, designed by architecture firm Torti Gallas + Partners, is expected to take roughly three years to complete.

Billie Greer, chair of the park’s master plan committee, said the park would be “positioned to eclipse Central Park and Millenium Park,” once completed.

George Lucas’ $1.5 billion museum is set to break ground early 2018 and be completed by 2021. The 22,000-seat, $250 million soccer stadium meant for L.A. Football Club is well underway and will be completed by next year. [Curbed] – Natalie Hoberman
