Where are they now? Metropolis LA’s progress so far

The 6.3-acre mixed-use Metropolis Los Angeles isn’t even finished yet, and it’s already reshaping the Downtown city skyline.

The megaproject, which will include three massive condo towers, 70,000 square feet of retail and a 350-room hotel, is expected to wrap up construction in 2019.

In February, it was reported the project’s developer, Greenland USA, was seeking a buyer for its under-construction Metropolis Tower 3. Shanghai-based Greenland Group is its parent company. In recent months, the Chinese government has pushed back on overseas spending, leaving many real estate firms at odds with their ongoing projects in L.A.

News of the decision to look for a buyer for Tower 3 broke just weeks after it was reported the company was shopping the complex’s Hotel Indigo, whose proceeds would help finance the $1 billion complex.

To get a better sense of when Metropolis will be wrapped up, The Real Deal broke down the complex by completion date. For a closer look at the megaproject, check out the above slideshow.
