Go long: Former NFL player Matt Leinart is getting into the real estate game
The NFL and real estate have a lot in common apparently
From TRD Los Angeles: Matt Leinart is trying his hand at a new game these days.
After getting his real estate agent license last year, Leinart is now part of a four-person team at Schneider Properties in Manhattan Beach where he’s pounding the pavement trying to make his first sale, according to the Los Angeles Times, and he’s starting to see some parallels with football.
“In both worlds, you get out what you put in. In real estate, if you’re hustling and maintaining a good work ethic, you’ll get deals,” he told the Times.
He’s tackling the challenge of learning industry slang, questions to expect from buyers and the personalities of Los Angeles realtors by treating it all the only way he knows how: like the NFL playbook.
“To an outsider, understanding an NFL playbook is like trying to read Japanese,” he explained to the Times. “After spending so much time with it, though, I can read it like the back of my hand. Learning the intricacies of the real estate industry is the same.”
Leinart’s eventually hoping to develop a niche in selling homes for athletes moving into the city, “since I’ve been in the same shoes.” He’s also perhaps hoping his new career plays out more like his time at USC, rather than the NFL. [Los Angeles Times] — Erin Hudson
