Ron Burkle, a billionaire investor who co-founded Yucaipa Companies, put a 5,500-square-foot house built to look like a Mayan temple on the market this week for $23 million. Designed by the esteemed Frank Lloyd Wright, the Los Feliz home was built from 27,000 concrete blocks. It includes three bedrooms and a swimming pool, and sweeping views of the city. Burkle purchased the home from a nonprofit in 2011 for $4.5 million, and later added $10 million to restore the property to its original glory. Branden and Rayni Williams of Hilton & Hyland have the listing.

Up the coast, a veteran Silicon Valley executive is listing his palatial home for $97 million. Scott McNealy, best known for co-founding Sun Microsystems, put his 13-acre home in Palo Alto on the market with REX, a real estate technology startup. McNealy and his wife Susan had tried selling the home off-market two years ago to no avail. Spread across two lots, the residence features a rock climbing wall, poker and billiards room, disco, ice hockey rink and “pizza room.” The couple paid just under $11 million for the two lots, and later spent seven years building the estate.

Pop star Kelly Clarkson has put down roots in Encino. The singer-songwriter paid $8.5 million for a two-story home with over 9,800 square feet of living space. It features eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, the Los Angeles Times reported. Outside, a barbecue area and swimming pool complete the property. Dennis Chernov of Keller Williams Realty was the listing agent. Chris Corkum of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage represented the buyer.

Film producer and real estate guru Megan Ellison is trying to part ways with one of her Beverly Hills residences. The software heiress listed her 4,250-square-foot home for $7.5 million, Variety reported. It includes four bedrooms and five bathrooms. Marketing materials suggest the price is for the land value only, and the property “needs to be completely remodeled,” Variety reported. Ellison, who owns Annapurna Pictures, paid $6.85 million for the property in May 2017. She also owns a property nearby — a 1.2-acre estate purchased for $15.5 million from cinematographer Janusz Kaminski.
