Rockwood Capital also promoted two people

JLL has tapped Tim Kuruzar as vice president of retail investment in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Kuruzar previously worked at competing brokerage CBRE for six years. In his new role, Kuruzar will work along executive vice president Geoff Tranchina and focus on growing the firm’s retail investment sales and dispositions. The hire is part of a larger expansion strategy, following the recruitment of Tom Lagos, Patrick Toomey, Jordan Uttal and Heather Boren earlier in January.

In the residential world, Douglas Elliman has poached Carrie Berkman Lewis from Compass. Lewis was working at Pacific Union International before Compass acquired the firm earlier this year. She has amassed a celebrity clientele during her 17 years in the business, most recently working with Bravo reality television star Jeff Lewis. Some of her other big deals include selling a $17 million home, designed by Paul McClean, above the Sunset Strip.

Darcy Mackay was named global director of human resources at CBRE. Starting Jan. 1, Mackay will oversee talent development, diversity, compensation and benefits for the company’s entire workforce of more than 80,000 employees. Previously, she worked as president of CBRE’s global workplace solutions for the west division. During her 19 years at the firm, Mackay has held numerous roles within the company.

Real estate investment firm Rockwood Capital promoted Andrew Blanchard and Niraj Shah to partners. Blanchard has worked as portfolio manager, handling Rockwood’s fund business, while Shah spearheaded the development of the company’s structured product platform. Rockwood is currently building W3 at the Water’s Edge office campus in Playa Vista. The firm, which has offices in L.A., New York and San Francisco, acquired the campus for $190 million in February.
