Salma Hayek has big plans for her Bel Air home.

The Mexican actress, who is married to French billionaire François-Henri Pinault, filed plans to build a 17,490-square-foot mansion to replace and more than double the size of her current home, The Real Deal has learned.

Documents filed with the city last week show the owner of the Bel Air property, Metro BA4 LLC, laid out plans for a new two-story residence with 10,946 square feet above grade, and 6,545 square feet below grade.

A source familiar with the deal confirmed that Hayek is the owner and that she plans to demolish her current 7,963-square foot home to construct the much-larger mansion. A representative for Hayek did not respond to requests for comment.

Hayek bought the home in June 2007 from actor Kelsey Grammer for $13.5 million. At the time, she had recently become engaged to Pinault, CEO of the luxury goods group Kering, and was pregnant with her daughter.

Her current home, built in 1940, has nine bedrooms, 10 baths, a pool, and sits on a nearly 1-acre lot. The couple apparently expanded the property from the seven bedrooms and seven baths it had when Grammer sold it a decade earlier. The former “Frasier” star and his wife paid $10.5 million in early 2006 for the then-6,811-square-foot home.

The property is in one of the most exclusive sections of Bel Air, and is near the late Jerrold Perenchio’s 10-acre estate, which is on the market for $245 million.

Also close is a home that had been owned by Joanne Carson, Johnny Carson’s former wife. The current owners recently filed plans to build a 12,000-square-foot house — three times the size of the existing residence.

A spec mansion spanning 25,000 square feet that listed in November for $88 million is also in the neighborhood.

Hayek and Pinault aren’t strangers to impressive properties. In 2017, the couple was renting a 14-bedroom villa on one of London’s priciest streets, which Justin Bieber once called home, according to the London Evening Standard. In L.A., Hayek previously lived in a 4-bedroom, 3-bath home in the Outpost Estates section of the Hollywood Hills, which she was advertising for rent for $11,000 a month in 2016, according to Zillow.

Among her many movies, Hayek is known best for her performance in “Frida,” which she co-produced and for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for playing the Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.
