Hollywood’s Coral Sands Motel could get a McKillen-style makeover

The 60-room property could be transformed from the developer behind Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Bel Air compound

Spec mansion developer Dean McKillen may be switching gears, with what appears to be plans to renovate Hollywood’s Coral Sands Motel.

McKillen filed permits to overhaul the 60-room hotel in March, according to city records reviewed by Curbed. He purchased the property at 1730 North Western Avenue, for $16.5 million in December, Curbed reported. McKillen is the son of Irish real estate mogul Paddy McKillen and brother of Tyrone McKillen, who jumped to Compass in March. Tyrone McKillen confirmed that he is not involved in the project. He runs Plus Development, which builds and renovates spec homes and commercial properties. In an email Thursday, Tyrone said his brother planned “a very special hospitality experience.”
