Rob Lowe re-lists monster Montecito mansion for $43M
The sprawling estate includes a movie theater, ocean views and 800 sf pool cabana
One year later and Rob Lowe has had “LIT-ruh-lee” no takers on his mega-mansion in Montecito.
The actor — who used that catchphrase for his role on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” — and his wife, have re-listed the estate for $43 million, down roughly 9.5 percent from what they were seeking last summer.
In 2013, the couple listed the property for $42 million and nearly had a buyer, but the deal fell through.
Lowe is one of many celebrities who own properties in Montecito, an affluent seaside community in Santa Barbara. Actor Jeff Bridges, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and Tinder co-founder also own homes in the area, which was badly damaged by mudslides last year.
Named the Oakview Estate, the Lowes’ home features a 10,000-square-foot main house with 20 rooms. It sits on 3.4 acres, which includes a koi pond, rose gardens, 800-square foot pool cabana and sweeping ocean views. Lowe’s wife, Sheryl Berkoff, is a jewelry designer.
An Architectural Digest profile of the home revealed architect Don Nulty modeled the house after Mount Vernon, George Washington’s Virginia estate. David Cho, who marketing materials label as a “Feng Shui master,” and Mark Rios of Rios Clementi Hale Studios also worked on the residence.
The property last traded in 2005 for $7.5 million, records show.
Eric Haskell of the Agency and Luke Ebbin of Compass have the listing.
The discounted listing comes as many sellers struggle to unload their homes in a shifting market. In April, the widow of Discount Tire founder Bruce Halle re-listed their mansion for $12.5 million, roughly half the amount the couple had invested in the property.
