Actress Rachel Bloom sues Matt Leinart-tied developer over house defects

“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” star Rachel Bloom and her husband are suing developer Raul Menjivar for allegedly selling them a lemon of a house that needs half a million dollars worth of repairs.

The couple claims they were victims of “a fraudulent ‘property flipping’ operation conducted through various fly-by-night entities” controlled by Menjivar and business partners, former USC football players Matt Leinart and Brandon Hance, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Bloom and her husband Dan Gregor in 2015 paid $1.3 million for the home, their first. The suit claims that renovation work at the front of the house was rushed and now the home’s foundation is cracking and chipping.

A load-bearing wall in the basement was replaced without proper shoring and other walls are cracking, the couple claims. Windows, floors, and doors need replacing. Earthquake retrofitting was “essentially cosmetic,” according to the suit.

The suit names at least two entities allegedly involved in Menjivar’s business, RUN Group LLP and Avenue Homes. Bloom and her husband allege the defendants, including Leinart and Hance, knowingly concealed the property’s defects.

Menjivar and Hance are both associated with RUN Group II and are co-founders of Avenue Homes. Leinart is a partner at Avenue Homes. The Heisman Trophy winner is an analyst for Fox Sports, but also got his real estate license last year and as of last spring was working with the Schneider Properties agent team at Palm Realty Boutique.

Bloom has acted in television and film. She co-created and starred in the TV series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” from 2015 to earlier this year. Gregor wrote for the show, among others. [LAT] — Dennis Lynch
