It won’t take much imagination to come up with a playlist for the music system in comedic heavyweight Mindy Kaling’s new Malibu home – the oceanfront mansion that once belonged to Frank Sinatra.

Kaling — who not only acted in, but also produced, wrote and directed for “The Office,’’ and starred in “The Mindy Project” — purchased the 5,900-square-foot home through a trust for $9.55 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The home was originally put on the market by the Sinatra estate in November 2018 for $12.9 million.

It was previously listed in July 2018 as $110,000-per-month rental, a year after Barbara Sinatra’s death in 2017.

Architect Ted Grenzbach designed the home in a contemporary style for the Sinatras, who frequently entertained there until Frank Sinatra’s death in 1998.

Located on one of Malibu’s trendiest stretches of beach, the home has seven bedrooms and nine baths, a second-floor master suite complete with elevator and a private terrace and a courtyard with a small swimming pool. It’s all part of an open floor plan that includes a dining area and a high-end kitchen, hardwood and tile floors and a variety of built-ins.

As befits a house that once played host to Sinatra’s cadre of celebrity companions, there also is hair salon, steam room and a wet bar — accessible from both inside and out.

Leonard Rabinowitz and Jack Friedkin of Hilton & Hyland and Chris Cortazzo of Compass were the listing brokers. Cortazzo also represented the buyer.

Though the beach house is off the market, fans of Sinatra can rent the crooner’s former Twin Palms home in Palm Springs, with rates starting at $2,500 a night. [LAT]Tina Daunt
