It didn’t take long for Bryan Cranston to sell his eco-friendly Ventura County beach house.

The “Breaking Bad” star and his wife Robin Dearden sold the custom-built, 2,450-square-foot home for $5.45 million, about a month and a half after putting it on the market, according to the Los Angeles Times. That was $455,000 more than their asking price.

Cranston and Dearden bought the Mussel Shoals parcel in 2007 for $2.5 million. They demolished a cottage and commissioned a team of architects and designers to build a “true net-zero” home — one that produces as much electricity as it consumes.

The result was a sleek, two-story, post-modern home with an open floor plan, concrete floors and floor-to-ceiling glass windows facing the Pacific Ocean. They completed the home in 2013, during the last season of “Breaking Bad.” It has three bedrooms and four bathrooms. Its primary suite on the second floor has a balcony facing the beach.

Cranston told the publication that at first he didn’t want to sell the home because of how much work went into it, but had a change of heart, deciding there was “something lovely about creating something of tremendous pride and effort and turning it over to someone.”
Beach houses have been in high demand lately, especially in neighboring Malibu. The priciest deal in recent months was the $40 million sale of a 5,000-square-foot home on Malibu Road.
