St. Lucie Foreclosure suits pull in extra judges

A 267 percent jump in foreclosure filings in St. Lucie from 2006 to 2007 has prompted the only two circuit judges now based in Okeechobee County to be moved there part-time to deal with the massive increase in the legal workload. Circuit Judges F. Shields McManus and Lawrence Mirman will move to the courthouse annex in St. Lucie West on July 1 to assist in cases there, along with those in Okeechobee, the Treasure Coast’s chief judge said last week.
