West Palm Hotel goes green

The Hotel Biba, which holds its grand opening party this week, is West Palm Beach’s first green lodging as certified by the state. The designation, granted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, has been applied to about 150 hotels and motels statewide conforming to environmental guidelines about natural resource conservation and waste management. There’s a waiting list of 350 applicants for the certification, the state said. The 41-room boutique hotel joins the Breakers resort in Palm Beach, which got its green certification in 2006.
