Tiara sparkles anew

The Tiara, a 320-unit condominium complex on Singer Island, was ravaged by Hurricane Charlie in 2004. After extensive repairs on the high rise, residents of the 42-story tower are only now able to return. During their weather-imposed exile, residents had to continue to pay taxes and maintenance fees, costing them each at least $10,000 a year. Additionally, only $88 million of the roughly $140 million renovation project was covered by insurance, obliging each resident to pay between $110,000 and $150,000 toward construction expenses.
