The Coconut Grove Waterfront Master Plan, a redevelopment proposal that has been three years in the making, now faces vocal opposition from critics. Miami city commissioners, who approved the plan in a nonpublic meeting, now face opposition to their actions. Some who protested the plan at a recent commission meeting included fans of the cable television show Burn Notice, who came to protest the proposed demolition of the Coconut Grove Expo Center, which the show calls home.
