Storm brings coverage freeze

Tropical storm Fay’s approach toward the Florida Keys prompted property
insurers across the state to start operating under storm restrictions,
meaning most companies have stopped issuing new or expanded coverage
since the tropical storm watch went into effect for Southeast Florida.
Citizens Property Insurance, which covers 1.2 million homeowners, is
one of the companies that has constrained its operations. The storm
restrictions are in effect until the tropical storm watch or warnings
are lifted.
