Official stadium ruling expected next week

While Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jeri Beth Cohen said she will not offer an official ruling on auto dealer Norman Braman’s case until next weekend, her language has made it fairly certain that she will rule against him and for the public financing of the county’s $3 billion redevelopment plan and the new Florida Marlins stadium. Braman, who has been in court for two months trying to stop the plan, claims that a public referendum is required for the county to use $800 million in Community Redevelopment Agency money to pay for the project; a contention with which Cohen is expected to disagree in her ruling. Braman plans to appeal Cohen’s decision.
