West Palm waterfront plan moves forward

West Palm city commissioners have voted to create funds that will help move forward a $22.9 million makeover of the waterfront. The revamp calls for demolition of the city library and construction of a community pavilion, wide walkways, 19 fountains and other amenities along nearly a mile of waterfront. The project, a centerpiece of Mayor Lois Frankel’s efforts to reinvigorate downtown life, is scheduled for completion at the end of 2009.
