Economy doesn’t prevent grill’s arrival

Slated to arrive before the economic downturn, the first
Grill on the Alley restaurant in Florida
will finally open today in Aventura Mall. The restaurant was originally scheduled
to open several months ago, but the opening was delayed
by construction problems, according to Joseph Quinones, a spokesperson for the restaurant. In
response to the economy, the staff at the 200-seat Aventura Mall grill has taken
a 10 percent voluntary pay cut
.
The restaurant’s CEO, Philip Gay, said the restaurant group chose the
mall location because it has been ranked the top shopping
destination in Florida and because of its
proximity to Miami and Palm Beach. The original Grill on the Alley
opened in Beverly Hills, Calif., in 1984, and there are five
other locations around the country, all company-owned. TRD
