Ban weighed on sales of non-code properties

Miami-Dade County home sellers would have to show their properties are up to code before the sales could go through under a proposed ordinance. The prohibition would extend to banks unloading foreclosed properties, under a plan by Commissioner Natacha Seijas. The county Governmental Operations and Environment Committee last month approved the plan. Commissioners also approved another proposal that, if passed by the full commission, would make anyone who filed to foreclose on a mortgaged home responsible for upkeep of the property.
