Attorney pleads guilty in fraud scam

Marni Belkin, a Boca Raton title attorney involved in a large-scale mortgage fraud, pleaded guilty Friday to a mail fraud charge and could face five years in federal prison and fines of as much as $250,000. Federal prosecutors in November charged Belkin, owner of Fortune Title Services, with one count of mail fraud for using a bogus loan application to sell a home in suburban Lake Worth to convicted scammer Ralph Michel in 2006. She was involved in at least 20 fraudulent transactions in 2006 and 2007.
