South Florida construction firms Tousa Homes and South Kendall
Construction are among the firms being sued in the expanding web of
litigation over imported Chinese drywall. The plaintiffs in the class action suit said the
drywall is causing health problems, making new homes smell like rotten
eggs and ruining appliances. An importer and a company that
manufactured drywall in China are also being sued. About 30,000 Florida
homes are affected, as are another 30,000 houses in the Southeast and
in California. The material was used at the height of the building
boom, from 2005 to 2007, when demand for drywall was very high.
