Ex-Boca mayor takes McCarty seat

Steven Abrams, former mayor of Boca Raton, will fill the Palm Beach County Commission seat vacated by Mary McCarty, who resigned in the face of fraud charges related to a convention center and hotel contract. Abrams was mayor of Boca Raton from 2001 to 2008, when he stepped down because of term limits.
