The Real Deal Miami

Advocacy groups move squatters into empty homes

Advocacy groups around the country are secretly and openly moving homeless people into vacant homes. A volunteer group called Take Back the Land moved a woman who calls herself “Queen Omega” into a newly empty house in the Miami area that sold a few years ago for $400,000. Separately, these advocacy groups also organize civil disobedience acts in which residents or renters refuse to leave their homes after those homes have gone into foreclosure. In most cases, police departments have not had the manpower to go after all of the squatters.
