Housing agency chief quits

Miami-Dade Housing Agency Director Jose Cintron abruptly quit the post this weekend after three months on the job. He’ll leave the troubled agency on May 15. In January, the agency reverted to local control after two years under federal control; the feds took over the agency after a series of scandals over affordable housing funding were exposed and several developers were arrested. The agency was required to privatize its Section 8 housing program, among other reforms. County Manager George Burgess said Cintron’s departure didn’t reflect performance problems.
