Florida remains among top states for foreclosures

Florida remains among the top four states hit by foreclosure as the national rate grew by 24 percent in the first three months of the year. Data from RealtyTrac placed the state behind only Nevada, Arizona and California as focal points for the 191,000 homes nationwide that completed the foreclosure process in the first quarter. About 804,000 homes got at least one foreclosure notice between January and March, the report said. Rick Sharga, RealtyTrac’s senior vice president for marketing, said numbers will increase as banks end their temporary stays on foreclosures. In South Florida, foreclosures rose in Broward County but dropped in Palm Beach County in the first quarter.
