Panthers’ owner wants mega-development in Broward

Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, the owner of the Florida Panthers hockey team, wants to create a single corporate development and sports management entity to build a residential, retail, hotel and entertainment complex in Broward County. The project could include up to 4,800 residential units, 950,000 square feet of retail space, 1,450 hotel rooms, 1.85 million square feet of offices and a Broadway-style theater. Sunrise is calling the development Oz, and must complete a great deal of organizational and political groundwork before it gets its emerald city.
