Preservationists who want to spare the Royal Poinciana Playhouse continue to take their cause to local officials, who are countering with a declaration that language in a ballot measure to save the building may not be valid. Town Attorney John Randolph called the proposed ballot language vague and said that it could conflict with state planning law. Palm Beach may need to vet the measure before a judge before the ballot measure is included in a general or special election. Preservationists seek a February 2010 vote.
